Gorenjska

Gorenjska
Kranjska Gora is most famous for its winter sports but is the heart of the Upper Sava Valley in the summer, too. Bled and Bohinj lakes are two lakes in the Julian Alps region of Slovenia - they are sometimes called the jewels of the Julian Alps. The Bled Lake is more commercialized, known for its legendary island in the middle and an overlooking castle. The Bohinj region with its unspoiled high-mountain lake is much more to my liking, but both are worthy of visit.

Prekmurje and Goricko

Prekmurje and Goricko
Prekmurje is the easternmost region of Slovenia and is its largest agricultural region. It is named after the Mura River, which separates it from the rest of Slovenia. The region is flat in the south near the Mura River and hilly in the north (Goricko). It is a land of wide fields and rounded hills, storks and wind-rattles, floating mills, healing waters and energy points, picturesque winegrowing hills, original traditions and dialects, and above all, a land of hospitable people. Srednji Vrh (July 2006)

Srednji Vrh (July 2006)
My friend Lidija invited me for a hiking trip to her family's cabin on Srednji Vrh (Gorenjska). We had a good time, not too much muscle pain and I took a lot of photos of the breath-taking nature. Among others, of kamniska murka (Nigritella lithopolitanica), gorski glavinec (Centaurea montana) and Clusijev svisc (Gentiana clusii)

Prekmurje Road Trip (July 2006)

Prekmurje Road Trip (July 2006)
Even though I have travelled quite a bit, I have never been to Prekmurje before, so I was happy when the opportunity arose to go there with my cousin Mojca and her son Kristijan. We drove there slowly, stopping on the way in Celje, Zrece, Rogla, Slovenske Konjice, Maribor, Olimje before finally arriving to Moravske Toplice, where we stayed at the Flisar tourist farm. We went to Bogojina, Filovci, Odranci, Grad, and many other villages.
